A&E BLOOD TESTING
Supporting the roll out of blood testing for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C in London emergency departments.
If you have HIV, finding out means you can start treatment, stay healthy and avoid passing the virus on to anyone else.
We are working with the NHS and partners to support the roll out of testing of blood-borne viruses – HIV, hepatitis-B and hepatitis-C – in London emergency departments. These viruses are easy to test for at the same time. Treatment is straightforward too. By routinely testing for all three we aim to diagnose and treat more people and also normalise the testing process into an everyday activity to help reduce stigma.
The team is working with people living with HIV, the HIV sector, Integrated Care Systems, emergency department and HIV and hepatitis clinicians and public health to make sure this new testing runs seamlessly and supports London’s ambition of getting to zero.
