UK & Ireland

The UK & Ireland network meets regularly online and face to face at our annual conference to collaborate, innovate and  co-create, as we continue our mission to achieve the Fast-Track Cities 2030 targets.

We have accomplished a great deal with our initiative in the fight against HIV, yet there is still much to be done. Funding sources are becoming increasingly scarce, while those in need of support are often the most vulnerable. It is time to draw on the lessons of the past and present and to harness our collective intelligence to shape a future we can aspire to together.

Some of the projects we have worked on together are:

• Worked with the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) and the UK Health Security Agency (HSA) to create a national definition for HIV preventable deaths, which was included in the HIV Action Plan for England 2022-2025.
• Worked together with the National AIDS Trust and BritainThinks, to develop a national survey to understand the public’s attitudes and knowledge about HIV, the results of which were published in July 2021.
• Working in partnership with the Elton John Foundation and pharmaceutical companies on digital and community PrEP models so we can share learning across the country.
• Working with the National AIDS Trust funding the HIV Confident Chartermark to train and educate people working in frontline health and care services about HIV with the aim of ending HIV related stigma.

English cities signed up to Fast-Track Cities are:

• Birmingham
• Blackpool
• Brighton & Hove
• Bristol
• Leeds
• London
• Liverpool
• Manchester

And 13 cities across the four Celtic nations: Ireland, Scotland and Wales who work together collectively across their countries and join together with colleagues in England.
