BIRMINGHAM
Birmingham’s Fast-Track Cities+ is part of the UK and Ireland network of Fast-Track Cities working together whenever possible to drive forward bold actions.
Fast-Track Cities in Birmingham originally focused on ending HIV. It expanded to also tackle viral hepatitis (Hep B and Hep C) and Tuberculosis (TB), because these conditions often affect the same communities and can be addressed together. That’s why it’s now called Fast-Track Cities+ — the “plus” reflects the added focus on hepatitis and TB alongside HIV.
Led by Birmingham Public Health, Birmingham Fast-Track Cities+ progress is driven by committed local partners, including:
- University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust
- NHS England and NHS Improvement Specialised Commissioning
- Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board
- United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA)
- voluntary and community organisations
Its action plan is informed by a local needs assessment, and aims to ensure a joined-up effort and city-wide approach.
