Lord Mayor of London endorses work to eliminate stigma for people living with HIV

On 2 July, Fast Track Cities London had the opportunity to meet with Michael Mainelli, Lord Mayor of London alongside partners from the National AIDS Trust, Terrence Higgins Trust and Vice Chair of the City of London Health and Wellbeing Board. The meeting was an opportunity to showcase examples of effective partnership working to achieve two of the main goals of the Fast Track Cities programme – to end new HIV transmissions in London by 2030 and eliminate the stigma that many people living with HIV continue to experience.

We were delighted that the Lord Mayor offered his endorsement of two innovative, knowledge-based approaches sponsored by Fast Track Cities London that support organisations to combat stigma and discrimination – the HIV Confident Charter (a partnership between Fast Track Cities London and the National AIDS Trust, aidsmap and Positively UK) and the HIV Ambassadors Programme a Fast Track Cities collaboration with Terrence Higgins Trust).

We look forward to continuing to work with the Lord Mayor of London to fight HIV stigma.
